The
next meeting of the Action Committee Against Corruption in India (ACACI) will
be held in New Delhi on November 3rd, 2011 to discuss the proposals
prepared by Committee members on how civil society can recover the amounts in the illegal accounts
of politicians, businessmen and others in secret banking abroad and other
topics connected matters concerning eradication of corruption from India.
I am pleased
to announce the appointment of Mr. Abhishek Joshi, a prominent social activist,
as the Member-Secretary of the ACACI.
Eminent Income Tax lawyer and renowned Chartered Accountant Mr. K.
Sampath Iyengar has accepted to be the
eighth member of the Committee. This
Committee will now open branches in
various States of India ,
as well as in 14 other cities abroad to co-ordinate the activities of
international organizations.
The
ACACI was formed in the meeting convened by me in Chennai on October 14, 2011
to take effective action against corrupt activities within the present legal
framework. The Anna Hazare movement
focuses on bringing new laws
while the Baba Ramdev’s
movement is focused on mobilizing the masses to revolt against corruption. The Committee
supports both these movements and will work in harmony with these two
movements.
